An adventurous and scenic drive across the famous rural and dirt roads of Costa Rica or a quick flight on a small commuter plane from San Jose into the Islita Airstrip, Cristal Azul is waiting to be your travel destination in paradise!

Whether you land in San Jose or Liberia, choose a commuter flight or to drive yourselves….we can assist you with in country flight reservations and ticketing, car rental reservations, pick up & drop off.  We will also send you detailed driving instructions prior to your arrival, plus tips on where to stop en route for a typical snack or meal!

4WD is required for the dirt roads and small rivers of Guanacaste.  Rental cars are avaible with GPS and Cristal Azul is in the main directory making it easy to find us from anywhere in the country!

From San Jose
Once you have arrived in San Jose, we are easy to access by small commuter plane. The flight is approximately 45 minutes followed by a 20 minute drive to Playa San Miguel.

Or, if you prefer to drive yourself the trip from San Jose usually takes half a day and includes a scenic one hour ferry ride across the Golfo de Nicoya.  You can also reach us via the Puente Amistad.  Both are scenic routes and provide and excellent way to take in and appreciate the people and lifestyles of this small country in the tropics.

From Liberia
If you arrive into Liberia the drive to reach us is 3.5 hours conservatively, on mostly paved roads. As you approach Samara you will start to travel along the coast offering great places to stop and grab a bite to eat and dip your feet in the ocean.
